How to Get Married at Dunluce Castle
Dunluce Castle is incredible for elopements. The views are unbeatable. Imagine exchanging your vows here, just the two of you, or with a few family and friends to witness the moment.
It’s no surprise that couples from around the world come to Northern Ireland to experience Dunluce Castle for themselves.
If you plan to elope here, I’ve got you covered.
Why You Should Elope at Dunluce Castle
Perched on rugged cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Dunluce Castle combines dramatic scenery, historic ruins, and the sound of waves below. It creates a ceremony you and your partner will never forget.
Northern Ireland has many stunning landscapes, but Dunluce Castle stands out for its privacy and unique charm. Nearby, hidden locations offer incredible views and photo opportunities without the crowds.
Whether your ceremony is intimate or includes a small group, the castle and surrounding coastline provide unforgettable moments and scenery.
Privacy Matters
When I eloped, I did not want tourists around us. I wanted privacy, and this is what I aim to provide for my couples. I help find secluded spots so you can focus on each other.
After all, who wants strangers watching you exchange vows?
The Cost of Eloping at Dunluce Castle
Booking the field overlooking the castle is simple. A local farmer allows wedding ceremonies for a fee starting at £350. This ensures you have the space all to yourselves, with no risk of another wedding happening at the same time.
For many couples, this small fee is worth the privacy and incredible views.
I don’t know about you, but when I and my husband eloped, I really did not want tourists around us, watching and snapping photos. I wanted privacy which is one of the reasons we wanted to elope. So, for my couples, I work hard to find those secluded locations for you! Because let’s face it, who wants 20 people you have never met watching you exchange your vows to each other?

CAN I BRING GUESTS TO MY DUNLUCE CASTLE ELOPEMENT?
Yes, you can bring guests to your ceremony. If you plan to exchange vows on the cliff edge, it’s best to keep the group small for safety reasons.
For a ceremony in the field overlooking the castle, you can comfortably invite around 20 to 25 guests. This allows you to share the moment with loved ones while still keeping the experience intimate and private.

Dunluce Castle Elopement Tips
Plan with a local expert: Working with someone familiar with Dunluce Castle and the North Coast can help you choose the best vendors, create a smooth timeline, and capture every moment of your elopement.
Plan for late afternoon: The best light for photos is when the sun is low in the sky. In summer, keep in mind that sunset can be quite late in Northern Ireland.
Wear comfortable shoes: You’ll be walking through fields and along cliff paths, which can get muddy, especially in winter.
Book the field in advance: The ceremony site is private land, and you must have permission from the farmer to access it. This can be arranged in advance to ensure your day goes smoothly.
Bring a picnic or snacks: Having food on hand allows you to enjoy the moment without rushing and ensures you don’t miss the sunset.

A Dunluce Castle Elopement Northern Ireland with Jason and Alexandra 2018
in 2018 Jason and Alexandra flew all the way from the States to elope on the North Coast of Ireland with the stunning Dunluce Castle ruin as their backdrop. These guys were such an adventurous pair, we had to jump over a few walls, walk through some muddy fields and climb through some barbed wire, yes, barbed wire to get to the perfect spot to say their vows. That’s my kinda couple, the adventurous souls. The sun even made an appearance after such a rainy week 🙂
